Magic Breakfast has launched a campaign to help it raise enough funds to feed all Year 6 children in its partner schools during SATS week.The charity currently provides free, healthy breakfasts to 23,500 vulnerable children in 480 schools each school day, and is hoping to offer all Year 6s in these schools a nutritious breakfast to help them concentrate during their exams.The Fuel for SATS campaign launched on 11th April, and as well as raising funds, it aims to educate schoolchildren about why having breakfast is so important before lessons and exams, and teaching pupils some healthy breakfast recipes.Magic Breakfast has partnered with food writer and broadcaster Rosie Birkett, who will be working with chefs from Dishoom, Foxlow and Bone Daddies restaurants to engage four Magic Breakfast partner schools in London and give special breakfast presentations to Year 6 students in the four weeks leading up to SATS week.Rosie Birkett said:“Every child has the right to eat breakfast. It’s so important to their health, both mentally and physically, and greatly improves their ability to focus and learn, therefore giving them a good start not only to their day but in life.”According to the campaign, it costs 22p to provide a healthy “magic” breakfast to a schoolchild to give them “Fuel for SATS”. The campaign asks people to donate £5 by text to enable the charity to feed 22 pupils.Magic Breakfast is aiming to raise £24,500 during its campaign, with Aspect Capital Limited match-funding any money raised.
