Clinton Warns Trump May Take the US Down a Dangerous Path

By Kainoelani LeeRabat – Hillary Clinton unleashed a sharp attack on Donald Trump, on Thursday, presenting a dark vision of what a potential Trump presidency would look like, leading America and the world into unnecessary military conflict or economic crisis, according to The New York Times.“This is not someone who should ever have the nuclear codes,” said Clinton, during a speech in San Diego that featured her most forceful condemnation of the Republican nominee. “It’s not hard to imagine Donald Trump leading us into a war just because somebody got under his very thin skin.” In an interview with The New York Times, during Clinton’s speech, Trump said that Clinton’s performance was “terrible” and “pathetic”. He added, “I’m not thin-skinned at all. I’m the opposite of thin-skinned.”Her speech unveiled what is likely to be the core argument, which will be carried into the general election against Trump.Referring to Trump as “Donald” throughout her speech, Clinton sought to portray her likely rival as a petulant youngster whose temperament and penchant for combat would “take our country down a truly dangerous path.”Clinton said she imagined that Trump was “composing nasty tweets” about her as she spoke, and he indeed was, “Bad performance by Crooked Hillary Clinton!” Trump wrote. “Reading poorly from the teleprompter! She doesn’t even look presidential.”However, Clinton was able to turn Trumps Twitter habit into an additional point demonstrating that he was “unfit” for the presidency, referring twice to the scene in the White House Situation Room, where as secretary of state, she advised President Obama on the raid on a compound in Pakistan that killed Osama bin Laden.“Imagine Donald Trump sitting in the Situation Room, making life-or-death decisions on behalf of the United States,” Clinton said. “Imagine if he had not just his Twitter account at his disposal when he’s angry, but America’s entire arsenal.”Clinton also said in her speech that Trump “doesn’t have a clue what he’s talking about. She said at one point, “Donald doesn’t see the complexity,” and that “this isn’t reality television,” she said of a Trump presidency. “This is actual reality.”“He believes we can treat the U.S. economy like one of his casinos,” Clinton added. In many ways, Clinton framed not just her case against Trump, but the broader foreign-policy debate in the election, casting herself as the defender of an American-led world order against an insurgent who did not understand or respect the network of alliances the United States constructed after World War II to safeguard its interests.“He says he has foreign policy experience because he ran the Miss Universe pageant in Russia,” Clinton said. “And to top it off, he believes America is weak. An embarrassment. He called our military a disaster. He said we are, and I quote, a ‘third-world country.’”Electing him, she said, would be a “historic mistake.” read more
